Heads up: We sometimes work with companies to provide affiliate links and reviews - here's what that means. If it's here, we use it. We don't plug shit for profit.
How we work with companies
You, our readers, are the most important thing to us. Without you, none of this would exist.
Hence, we feel it's critical to be open, honest and transparent with you in everything we do because if you can't trust us, you won't stick around.
And then, what's really the point of all this?
That brings us to this, the Far Out Travel collaboration policy:-
Ultimately, for us to travel enough to give you a reliable opinion and comparison, we spend a lot of time on the road, and travel isn't free. Therefore, we sometimes accept paid work, discounts and gifts - including 'freebies' - or provide affiliate links that may result in us getting a commission. In truth, this helps us stay on the road longer and helps us maximise our experiences so we are better able to inform you.
However, the critical thing is this: we will only ever give an honest review.
If we say something is good, we believe it's good. If not? Well, we'll tell you it's rubbish, freebie or not. And if we recommend something, we'd spend our own money on it. We don't promote shit. Ever.
Hence, some companies won't work with us or go very quiet when we show them our policy. Companies must back their product or services.
So, here are the Far Out Travel rules for collaborating with companies:
What we will do
* We will give honest reviews of any experience we have, paid or not.
* Accept discounted or free products and services in return for a review and/or promotion on social media. However, they come with our honest and personal thoughts. Furthermore, the reviews will only make it on our sites if we like it enough to use it ourselves.
* Provide affiliate links to products/services we recommend, which involves us getting a commission if you buy using our links. For example, as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
What we Won't Do
* Improve our review because we have been paid to or because a company won't work with us again if we don't.
* Publish anything written by someone else as our own opinion.
Of course, we may have to add further rules to this as the need arises. Nevertheless, we will never remove or violate any of these principles.
