Is it a bat, is it a plane, no its Dracula

Romania is located in the eastern Europe and is surrounded by 5 other countries: Bulgaria to the south, Serbia and Hungary to the west, Ukraine to the north and east, and Moldova to the east. It also shares the Black Sea with 5 other countries.

Famed for its capital Bucharest, which holds the world's second largest administrative building in the form of the Palace of the Parliament.

The other famous building is located north of the capital, and that is the horrifying Bran's Castle. Legendarily this is the home of Dracula, even though the character himself was based upon a Polish villain.

So, What's Special?

Not much.

Here at Far Out Travel we are trying to give you honest reviews, and tell it as we see things. There is no point in us telling you it's brilliant when it isn't. You read reviews for the truth.

So saying that, we have to be honest and highlight that this is based on a four-day trip to Bucharest. Four days felt like enough.

There wasn't anything special about anything we saw or did. We will note that the alcohol was cheap.

If someone would like to invite us back and change our minds of course we would like that. We want to like places. No one travels to be disappointed. However at this time there's nothing that sticks out in our minds worth mentioning.

Our Experience

As mentioned above, Greg has been to the capital Bucharest and was very disappointed. We saw the city and walked a fair distance checking out the sights. We had a good laugh and a lovely time, but that was due to the group of guys we went with and not the city itself. We enjoyed a few beers in King Mihai Park, but aside from that there wasn't a relaxing spot to chill, or any beauty in what we saw.

There was one thing however that saved the day in Romania and that was the food, we ate local and cheap but it was delicious. I couldn't fault it at all. The portions were large and cooked to perfection.

Our Advice

If you decide on a little trip to Romania, don't expect to spend long in Bucharest. Get out of the capital and go and check out the Black Sea or Bran Castle.

Travel and living costs in Romania are cheap, so take advantage of this and get out there, try things, enjoy the foods and see as much as you can.

To Summarise...

It is fair to say there are much better places out there. There are glimpses of beauty but just not enough to make us want to return. The people are great and will assist you with anything but it needs a lot more in our eyes.
