Uncover Menorca's Prettiest Town

Binibeca in southwest Menorca hugs a small stretch of the magnificent coastline, where the waters are clearer than your soothing bath.

The small, whitewashed town is dressed in vibrant colourful flowers, and tiny narrow walkways weave through the houses.

Pretty isn't enough to describe Binibeca, it's sensational.

Binibeca's petit centre comes alive with laughter as people enjoy fantastic food and drink in the most relaxed environment. Time in Binibeca, no matter what you're doing, is time well spent.

I've been lucky enough to visit Binibeca on a couple of occasions, and have to admit it's one of my favourite places in the world. My most recent trip came in April 2025.

In this short blog on Paradise, I will show you the nearby villas in Binibeca Nou and Binibeca Vell and lead you to one of Menorca's most beautiful beaches. Furthermore, I'll discuss the best restaurants and bars and everything you need to know about Binibeca, Menorca.

Grab a cold beer and relax with me as we enjoy the place where people who live in paradise go on holiday.

I'll just sit here and take it all in.

What's Binibeca, Menorca Like?

When arriving in Binibeca, a cooling sea breeze sweeps the stifling heat from your brow and instantly relaxes you into holiday mode.

Blink and you'll miss the tiny, tiny glossy white centre that sticks to the rocky coastline, whilst the outer extremities of Binibeca Vell and Binibeca Nou spread up the hill and southeast along the coast.

The captivating and attractive town centre is a marvel, with the tiniest little walkways cascading through the enchanting small houses like a maze. If it were any bigger, you could easily get lost.

Luckily, that's almost impossible. Although you could bang your head, so it's not all great.

The rocky coastline is met by water so clear it's like looking through glass. Gentle ripples break on the rocks as the sun's reflection and warmth bounce from the houses behind.

As lunchtime approaches, people leave the local sandy beaches and cooling seas and aim for the shady, narrow, cobbled/crazy-paved streets. Now the atmosphere goes from sleepy to sounds of enjoyment, happiness, and that sound that can only be described as 'holiday'.

There isn't really anything to do other than sit back and forget the stresses of work and life. If the terms soothing and dreamy were a town, they would be Binibeca, Menorca.

How to Get To Binibeca, Menorca

Menorca pubic transport is an odd one.

Normally, things run fairly smoothly and on time; however, when trying to get to Binibeca, things aren't overly easy.

There are no trains, and the only bus to Binibeca is from Mahรณn. Strangely, that doesn't always run. The word seasonal strikes again.

Hence, whenever you're thinking about how to get to Binibeca, there are two answers: taxi or hire a car.

Likewise, when it comes to car hire, there are two things to consider: driving in Menorca is easy, but there is a lot of hate for tourists driving around the island.

How to get to Binibeca from Menorca Airport

It is super easy to get to Binibeca from Menorca Airport. Head out of the airport, immediately turn right and wander to the taxi rank.

A taxi is the quickest, easiest and best way to get to Binibeca. Plus, if there are three or four of you, you're paying about as much as those on a bus to Mahรณn, which is about the same distance in the other direction. A taxi from the airport to Binibeca will take less than fifteen minutes and cost around โ‚ฌ20.

Furthermore, there are no direct buses from Menorca Airport to Binibeca. If you want to waste time on a bus, you can catch one to Mahรณn, and then, at certain times of the year (May to October), jump aboard Bus 93, which runs from Mahรณn bus station to Binibeca.

How to get to Binibeca from Mahon

Frankly, it's the same advice as above.

From May to October, you can get bus 93 from Mahรณn Bus Station to Binibeca via Sant Lluรญs. The journey will take around twenty minutes and cost โ‚ฌ1.80. You can pay on the bus with cash or via a Menorca public transport card.

However, taxis are the best way of getting from Mahรณn to Binibeca. Although due to Mahรณn's one-way system and strangeness, you should walk to the bus station to get a taxi. It will save you time and money. Plus, there are always taxis there. Again, it will take less than twenty minutes and cost around โ‚ฌ15.

How to get to Binibeca from Ciutadella de Menorca

This is where the advice changes slightly: a taxi from Ciutadella de Menorca to Binibeca will cost around โ‚ฌ55-60, which is a hell of a lot of money.

Spend a little longer on the journey and save money. Take a bus from Ciutadella de Menorca to Mahรณn for โ‚ฌ2.80, and then once you arrive at Mahon bus station, get a taxi to Binibeca for around โ‚ฌ15 or Bus 93 for โ‚ฌ1.80.

Timing your Trip

How Long Should You Spend Visiting Binibeca, Menorca?

As you can tell, I love Binibeca and cannot praise it enough. However, it is so small that there isn't anything to do other than relax, eat, drink, take a dip in the sea and chill on the beach. Sounds terrible - right?

In all seriousness, you can comprehensively explore Binibeca in a day, which you can do as a day trip from another Menorcan town. But that's not the point of it. Binibeca is about letting go of all your stress and worries and simply doing nothing.

Hence, it's the perfect place to rent a villa and enjoy a holiday. I'd advise staying a week in Binibeca, with the condition that you spend a few days exploring the island with a car.

Personally, I'd include day trips to Mahรณn, Ciutadella de Menorca and a combined day at El Torro and Fornells.

The Best Time Of The Year For Discovering The Best Things to Do in Binibeca

Everything in Binibeca and Menorca opens around mid-May and closes around early October. Yes, that's also when the weather is hot and sunny.

For me, the best time to visit Binibeca is either side of summer and the crowds. Hence, I advise visiting Binibeca around mid-May to the end of June and then again in September.

Where to Stay Whilst Visiting Binibeca, Menorca

As mentioned, Binibeca and the surrounding Vell and Nou are only small. However, the area is very much a holiday destination. Even those who live near enjoy their holidays here.

Consequently, so many of the buildings are holiday lets.

Within the prettier white centre, you will find small but stunning homes, while the further out you go, you'll discover larger villas with terraces, gardens and the oh so important pool.

Sadly, for those travelling around Menorca on a budget, this isn't somewhere you'd be able to stay, especially as couchsurfing, hostels and cheap accommodation from the likes of the old faithful, Hostelworld, simply don't exist.

My only advice for Binibeca and the surrounding districts is to book early. Accommodation in Binibeca gets booked quickly, and you don't want to end up disappointed.

I've only stayed in one place in the area, and whilst fairly basic, I'd happily stay there time after time. Here's why...

Villa Binibeti

My accommodation (Binibeti) in Binibeca, Menorca
Wish I was back here. Fantastic place and even better memories
  • What: Stunning villa with lush green gardens and a beautiful pool.
  • Where: Between the gorgeous town of Binibeca and the astonishing beach of Binibรจquer Nou. (map)
  • Why: There's a wonderful pool, a great BBQ and a terrace. Plus, it's close to the beach and town.
  • Why Not: Ummmmm, you're a bit odd...

Set within a private, lush, green garden, this beautiful villa and pool will dazzle any holiday goer.

What better way to live than like a local? Grab a few things from the supermarket, BBQ on the terrace and relax with a beer. Then, if you fancy it, stroll the fifteen minutes to the pub to end the night.

Inside the villa, things are fairly standard. I would even use the word basic. Nevertheless, it's super clean, tidy and has everything you'll need. Furthermore, it's comfy as...

In truth, you won't be inside for more than ten minutes, unless it's to sleep. You'll spend the whole day at the beach, in the pub or in and around the showstopping pool.

You'd be silly to miss out on this perfect, peaceful villa close to the action.

In May 2025, four nights (the minimum stay) will cost you โ‚ฌ458 (ยฃ386). However, it sleeps six people, which works out at only โ‚ฌ76.33 (ยฃ64.34) per person for four nights. That said, May is a cheap month. Prices ramp up as the year goes on to over โ‚ฌ2000 (ยฃ1,686) for four nights.

Binibeti, Binibeca, Menorca
Simply devine!

Further Accommodation

Other than what I've already said, the main things to keep in mind are location and time of year.

If you visit Binibeca during the off season, accommodation will be cheaper, but many 'touristy things' may be closed or winding down.

As for location, you should be looking to stay in either the old whitewashed town or along the coastal road between Binibeca and the beautiful beach of Binibรจquer Nou.

Finally, to help you on your noble quest to find accommodation in Binibeca, Menorca, I have added two of my trusty trio for you to check out.

Best Things to do in Binibeca, Menorca

Well, there's some good news and some bad news.

Due to Binibeca's size, it's easy to get around, and nothing is too far away from each other.

As long as you stay within the area I've suggested, you can walk everywhere and won't need a car.

That said, if you're planning day trips around the island of Menorca, a car is the easiest way to do it.

And now for the bad news. There is nothing to do in Binibeca...Which is also the good news... Binibeca is all about relaxing, chilling on the beach, eating and drinking a lot.

With that said, let's look at what there is to do in Binibeca, Menorca.

    Snorkel in Binibeca, Menorca
When the waters this clear you have to enjoy some Snorkeling.

    Discovering Binibeca, Menorca: The Highlights

Be enchanted by the narrow, whitewashed streets

Binibeca, Menorca - whitewashed, narrow streets
Time to enter the maze that is Binbeca, Menorca.
    • Why: It's why you're here and home to the bars and restaurants.
    • Where: Within the magical old town centre. (map)
    • How long: If you grab a drink and relax, take a few hours.
    • How much: Exploring the town is free, but I'm afraid the drinks and food will cost.

The charm of Binibeca lies within the old fishing village, where every wall is coated in pure, brilliant white paint.

Each adorable house is unique and brings a character to the town. Thin alleyways scatter through the houses, creating a sense of adventure and excitement as you weave, duck and dodge your way through.

The crazy paving underfoot further enhances the magnificence and playful side of Binibeca. Likewise, the miniature courtyards and colourful plants catch your eye and stop you in your tracks, if only to smile for a split second.

Binibeca is attractive, fun, and brings out your inner child.

Once you've found your way through, the rocky waterfront awaits with the sun beaming down. The waters are clean and clear, and as always, relaxing to sit and gaze at.

All that's left to do is find your way back to the main street and relax in the shade with a cold beer.

Life in Binibeca is perfect, I'll see you around.

Relax on the exquisite Binibequer Nou Beach

    Binibeca Menora beach
    Just chillin!
    • Why: Beaches are beautiful, but this one is on another level. Plus, there's a wicked little bar.
    • Where: A fifteen-minute walk down the coast from Binibeca. (map)
    • How long: Give yourself the time you and this beach deserve, and spend half a day here relaxing.
    • How much: Again, it's free unless you buy a drink or food at the beach bar.

Binibequer Nou is, without doubt, the perfect beach for all.

The shallow waters are perfect for the kids to play and paddle, whilst the clarity and calm ripples allow the adults and older kids to snorkel near the rocks in a very safe and secluded bay. Meanwhile, those who don't like being in the sea can admire it from the picturesque, sandy beach surrounded by greenery and dunes.

Yet, the piรจce de rรฉsistance is the fantastic los Bucaneros.

During the main season, Los Bucaneros opens for business and is truly fantastic.

After a snorkel, dry off, warm up and relax in the sun with a cold beer overlooking the glistening turquoise waters and shimmering sands.

Just take it in because it is sensational. It's easy to let it pass you by, but remember, moments like this don't come around too often.

Take a day trip to the capital, Mahon or another part of Menorca

    Exploring Mahon from Binibeca, Menorca
    A day in the capital
    • Why: Aย week in Binibeca is a bit too much without exploring the rest of Menorca.
    • Where: Mahon is a short taxi ride northeast of Binibeca, Menorca. (map)
    • How long: A day in each town should give you a good feel for the place.
    • How much: Taxi to Mahon is about โ‚ฌ15, and it's easily worth that.

Binibeca is superb and somewhere you'll want to be.

Nevertheless, due to its size, if you're here for more than a few days and, like me, get bored doing nothing, you will want to explore further afield.

Fortunately, nothing in Menorca is far from anything, so I advise taking a couple of day trips to other parts of the island, such as Mahรณn, Ciutadella de Menorca, Fornells or Cala en Porter.

The easiest way of getting around the island is to hire a car. Otherwise, taxis any further than Cala en Porter or Mahรณn will start to add up.

No matter how you get around the island, Mahรณn is worth the short taxi ride. Once there, you'll discover the home of Xoriguer gin, glass bottom boat rides, churches, museums and plenty of great bars and restaurants.

Likewise, Ciutadella de Menorca is a beautiful city to explore with sublime architecture, views and different things to do. Cala en Porter and Fornells are more similar to Binibeca, but different enough to make them spectacular places to visit.

    Statues fill the capital...

Ride the Binibeca to Punta Prima Train

    Train in Binibeca, Menorca
    Choochoo
    • Why: It's a great way to visit other small towns and see the coast.
    • Where: The train stop is next to the zebra crossing and marked as a tourist train stop. (map)
    • How long: The journey to Punta Prima will take half an hour.
    • How much: Adults cost โ‚ฌ10 (cash or card), children a few euros less for a return trip.

Firstly, the train in these photos is the old red Binibeca to Punta Prima train, not the new yellow one. But hey, it's the same thing. Same same but different.

Anyway, for those who want to explore the local coastal areas and don't want to drive or take public transport, the land train runs between Binibeca and Punta Prima, stopping at several locations en route, including Cala Torret.

Admittedly, it's a bit touristy and one for the kids, but it is a relaxing and fun way to see the area. Plus, throughout most of the route, you hug the coast, which provides beautiful views out to sea, and you get a bit of a breeze.

Truthfully, Punta Prima doesn't match Binibeca's beauty, and the beach isn't a competition for that of Binibรจquer Nou, but there's a lighthouse out on the island...soooo.

The Binibeca to Punta Prima train only runs in the high season (May to the end of September) unless there's enough demand in October.

    Great restaurants in Binibeca, Menorca
Another class looking restaurant in Binibeca

Binibeca is compact, cute and chill, but that doesn't mean you won't find some great restaurants, because you will.

Within the centre are several restaurants, some built into the whitewashed narrow lanes with outdoor seating, to sublime courtyards and colourful terraces with views out to sea.

Unsurprisingly, the majority of the restaurants in Binibeca are based around seafood. However, the more modern, newer places have diversified into other cuisines, including the Spanish faithful - tapas.

In truth, the food looked and smelled great everywhere. However, I would avoid ร‰s Bouer de Binibequer. I've heard bad things, and it looks cheap and touristy.

Sadly, I've only recently been to one restaurant in Binibeca, and my reviews for the others, including Restaurante El Pescadito de Binibeca, are old. Hence, while very deserving of a great review, I'm keeping this current.

    BB Cocktail Bar Menorca

Delicious food at BB Cocktail Bar, Binibeca, Menorca
Unreal food at BB Cocktail Bar... Yes please...
    • What: Mediterranean and burger cocktail bar with views.
    • Where: Next to the medical centre in the heart of the small centre. (map)
    • How much: A couple of cocktails, humans, bread and patatas bravas cost us โ‚ฌ50 (ยฃ43.25). Burgers โ‚ฌ18. (menu)

    Where to start?

Everything about BB Cocktail Bar Menorca is exquisite.

At the top, within the open-air section, you have disgustingly beautiful views over the whitewashed rooftops and the deep blue seas. Then there's the classy and stylish decor, with the relaxing vibes.

If you had any worries or stresses, this place will clear them in seconds.

Along with all that beauty, BB Cocktail Bar has some of the friendliest and fun staff in Binibeca. After I threw half my dinner down myself, and the waiter had finished crying his eyes out, he helped with the clean up in a truly kind way. Yeah, it went everywhere and was kinda funny.

Blimey, I've not even mentioned the food yet, and that too is exceptional. All the dishes we tried were sensational, with fantastic flavours and textures. Whether you have one of the tapas dishes or a burger and chips, which are epic, you will be in a world of pure heaven.

Overall, this BB Cocktail Bar is better for food and drinks than the one in Mahรณn.

Where to Party in Binibeca, Menorca

    Drinks in Binibeca, Menorca
It's going to be one of those kind of nights

As you'd expect, Binibeca, like Menorca, is not somewhere you come to get off-your-face drunk, fall behind a wall and wake up in an ant's nest the next morning, is it, Rob?

      It's the complete opposite.

Nevertheless, there are plenty of options for a cooling beer, a cheeky cocktail and a good night out.

Again, due to the size of Binibeca, you can complete the pub crawl fairly quickly. Plus, if you don't like one place, the next is never too far away. No matter where you decide to chill, you must try a couple of local Menorcan tipples, including the Menorcan Xoriguer gin, which is divine.

Finally, before we dive into the bars, I will mention safety on a night out in Binibeca, Menorca.

Binibeca is super safe even on a night out. The people are friendly, helpful, and everyone is there to relax, let their hair down and enjoy themselves. The biggest danger to you at night is thinking of swimming in the sea after a skinful of beer. Dumb ass move.

      BB Cocktail Bar Menorca

      BB Cockatail Bar, Binibeca, Menorca
      Top-notch cocktails
      • What:ย Enchanting cocktail bar with views over the sea. And there's great food.
      • Where: Next to the medical centre in the heart of the small centre. (map)

I've only just given a quick rundown of the epic staff, great food and those views within the food section above. So, I'll keep this to the drinks the best I can.

They say a picture speaks a thousand words, and this shot of me with those views and one of the best cocktails I had in Menorca tells you all you need to know.

BB Cocktail Bar Menorca is one of the best on the island. The guys and girls are at one with cocktail making and know everything there is to know about cocktails. What they don't know about cocktails isn't worth knowing.

Furthermore, they occasionally hold events and live music, which adds a new, vibrant feel to the sleepy town of Binibeca.

Finally, for those interested, you can book a cocktail-making course, which, if you've got a week in Binibeca, sounds like a great way to enjoy your time.

      Sa Musclera

Sa Musclera - Gin in Binibeca, Menorca
      It's Gin o'clock
      • What:ย A small, lively cave-like bar with plenty of outdoor seating on the main strip.
      • Where: In the middle of the old part of Binibeca, Menorca. (map)

I know Sa Musclera cook up a seafood storm, but I am here to talk about drinking and nights of rawkus behaviour.

Sa Musclera is one of those places in Binibeca with relaxing vibes throughout the day.

People come and go after a couple of beers or a few G&Ts while hiding from the sun under the umbrellas.

However, I've seen two sides to Sa Musclera.

Yes, I've enjoyed a few relaxing Menorcan G&Ts, a couple of cold brews and everything else that comes with that sort of day.

But... I've also experienced one of those nights where no one plans to get drunk, but something takes hold and an atmosphere develops - partly through the crowd and partly through the service, the staff and the building.

The cave-like bar has something magical that pulls you in and won't let you go. It's unique, joyful, and somewhere you can't bring yourself to leave, not that you want to.

Once night falls, head inside and see where the night takes you. With the right crowd, that could be anywhere.

      Sa Musclera, Binibeca, Menorca
This place brings back some memories.

      los Bucaneros

Beers at los Bucaneros, Binibeca, Menorca
      They aren't all for me...
      • What:ย Chilled beach bar.
      • Where: Overlooking Binibรจquer Nou Beach, a fifteen-minute walk from the whitewashed walls of Binibeca, Menorca. (map)

Again, this is an easy write-up.

Imagine, if you will, a beach with tiny grains of perfect sand, water so clear you could see your feet through the seabed and sun so warming you close your eyes, look up, and smile.

      Got it?

Now... add a wonderful beach bar a few meters from where you're paddling. Reasonably priced cold pints of beer with views of scenes so beautiful you have to experience it to believe it.

      Well, that's it...

And what more do you want?

      Is Binibeca, Menorca Safe?

      Medical centre in Binibeca, Menorca
Let's hope we don't end up here

Yes, Binibeca, Menorca, is as safe as anywhere you're likely to visit this year, or the next.

Menorca is considered one of, if not the, safest place in Spain. Therefore, due to its diminished size and chilled vibes, Binibeca is exceedingly safe.

Normally, this is where I go into detail on crime, road safety, terrorism and natural disasters, but seriously, I don't need to.

Binibeca is safe, and as long as you apply the usual advice of being aware of your surroundings and don't do dumb things like swim at night when drunk or run flat out on the crazy paving after a downpour, you should be completely safe in Binibeca.

Ultimately, unlike the rest of the island, I've rarely seen police officers or paramedics in Binibeca, but that's not through neglect; it's because they don't need to be there.
